Odessa city DUMA

Odessa Duma

The City Council Building, formerly the building of the Exchange, is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city and at the same time the main administrative building of Odessa. Located on the Promenade, before it is a small square with a monument to Pushkin, and a bronze cannon.
In 1828, during a visit of Emperor Nicholas I in Odessa, he approved a building plan for the stock assembly. The building was designed by architect Franz Boffo, the building after changing several contractors, was completed only in 1837. However, the story of the building is not over, the estimate for construction was approved before 1851.
In 1899, the Exchange moved to a new building (now Philharmonic), and its old place was taken by City Council, which is located in this building today, albeit under a different name.
